Body Image and Slow Life

Hi, I'm here with some thoughts and reflections I've had lately. Writing this while my butt and legs are sore AF. I do that, manage to reach the gym, feel pain the next day, and don't come back until I can move again. So the problem is I have to learn how to stretch correctly.

(Note: this was written at the start of my burnout recovery over a month ago)

I honestly have always been obsessed with my body image, and at the same time, this has been so debilitating that I am left with no energy to do something about it. Years of therapy later, I can say that I do find myself worthy of existing even in a bigger body. I now know that living with a disability such as autism leads me to pathways and cycles. I am yet to understand a way in which I can thrive and be 100% healthy. The truth is, I also struggle with PMOS (formerly known as PCOS), and autistics tend to also develop gut issues such as IBS due to many reasons.

Yes, I was assigned a more difficult mode than others, and I take responsibility for what I asked for. Sadly enough, my stims are food-related... I also have a lot of food noise; I crave salty and spicy foods all the time. I take accountability and research until something clicks for me to improve my condition.

The good news is that now that I'm aware, I try my best to make better decisions (which are difficult, but not impossible). Blood work, listening to my body, getting professional opinions, avoiding distractions, etc. Those are things that I have been doing for the past year or so. Progress is rarely linear, and to be honest it should be measured by me and the systems I am working to set up for my future self.

Another thing that has helped me is removing all kinds of external judgements, the ones that are implied. Did you know that we weren't meant to see that many pretty and objectively beautiful/fit people? That's how unreasonable ideals are formed. It did not matter how much I curated my feed; it always went back to who was the skinniest, who had the best bone structure. It always encouraged self-surveillance and created a new, oddly specific insecurity. I refuse to keep being a part of that system, which has not allowed me to progress and become my best self. It is good to have role models, but we have to look to our sides, not necessarily up or down.

Gyaru has always been a double-edged sword for me. On one hand, we have the values of being yourself, self-expression, and curating your personal style. At the same time, when you are gathering inspo, you unconsciously idolize girls who are from a whole different ethnicity, bone structure, and lifestyle than what you are accustomed to or born with. I am not saying their ways are wrong, or that mine are right; it is just quite different. Then we add the layer of policing and gatekeeping that the gaijin community has been curating for almost 2 decades now. Wherever I turn, there are rules, there are standards, something or someone is telling you that what you are is not enough. Sometimes it's verbally stated; you get posted on Lolcow or whatever variation of the sort. Hypocrisy, that's what we try to ignore and sweep under the rug. This does not only apply to me and how fat, tall, or big I am. It can be extended to ableism, ageism, racism, colorism, etc. We are never enough.

Call me a fat-cow-crybaby, but after trying my best to keep up with SNS, content creation, and being part of the online community, I feel exhausted. I, of course, love gyaru; I am a gyaru; I will always default and gravitate towards gyaru. I love makeup, and how good I am at it. It's just that whatever I was doing was not working.

I just wrote this to connect with myself, and more than a rant, I wanted to let you know that it's time to wake up! Do things for you, reduce the noise, be a good neighbor.

Obagyaru Meet #2 [Photo Dump]

I was on an indefinite hiatus, but this time it was mandatory to make sure I could recover from burnout. However, I promised myself to stop being flaky with IRL friends, so I am trying my best to keep up and plan more outings.

I have two new gal friends from my town! They are Godsent for sure! We call ourselves obagyaru because we're the oldest in the local community.

We went to Tea N More, which we want to turn into "our" spot! We all agree we need third spaces.

I took my sister with me, and we ate some takoballs (lol sounds funnier that way). I also brought my son, Switch, and some Popteen mags!

Me waiting for Ning and Melly! BTW Ning made a blog, so excited to read her! I'm harassing pushing ppl into opening their own blogs and ditching SNS!

We all got food and a drink, but the cheesy fries were too cheesy, so my stomach killed me a bit afterwards (ಥ﹏ಥ)

I tried to help Melly with her makeup, but I feel like my attempt was not good :( Next time we promised to bring more makeup and stuff to go all in!

My make for the date!

I also got new pressons (´ ∀ ` *)

We looked so cute! Even for a casual weekday meet!
I really loved our outfits!

I hope we get to do more casual hangouts for sure! I also wish for our group to grow and keep the good vibes going ☆*:.。.o(≧▽≦)o.。.:*☆

Futbol and Girlie Activities

Note: this post is from like weeks ago when France played against Spain

We got FIFA fever over here, so even if my teams lost, I found some respect for the sport ∑d(°∀°d)

I grew up in an intense football country (Mexico), and even if I didn't like it, I kinda had to be a part of it at some point. Funny enough, I know more than what I took credit for, and I have become a legit fan. It must be that I'm good at studying and hyperfixating.

Anyway, the girlies at work had this funny idea to create

(´。• ω •。`) I haven't worked on PCs and oshis to this extent before. Not even for my K-pop hubbies! It had to be done.

Of course mine were Haaland <3

My coworkers did Mbappe, Messi, and others...

That's it, lol...

bye?

The Burnt Diaries-Decluttering Craze

It has been over a year since I moved in with my partner, and I now know that I was chasing the wrong goal.

I tend to be the one who takes care of the home, and he fills in some financial extras we may need. I am not necessarily okay with this being the way forever, but for now I can take charge of how I want my place to look. The truth is a lot of the crap that has been accumulated is mine. He has stated several times that we do have too much crap, so I am finally listening.

This is my first time living completely independently and in partnership, so I want to take control and curate my life for a better future.

We got a storage locker downstairs in the communal garage, so we are taking advantage of it. For now, since I'm too embarrassed to share my place's current state, I just wanted to share the inspo first and my plan.

The place is small, but I am not sure why I struggle so much. I used to be able to clean around the same number of rooms when I had roomies. I want my collection to appear purposeful, not like a hot mess. I'm a gyaru and a maximalist at heart, but how does one make it all work together?

First stage, before I go on a spending spree, I am following some basic ground rules.

Core decision rules (I asked Claude, but it's a good starting point).

  1. The One-Year Rule: Haven't used, worn, or touched it in 12 months (and it's not seasonal/sentimental)? It goes.
  2. The One-In-One-Out Rule: New item comes in, an old one of the same category goes out. Keeps totals from creeping back up.
  3. The "Would I Buy This Again?" Test: If you saw it in a store today, would you pay for it again? No = let it go.
  4. The Duplicate Rule: Keep the best version of anything you own multiples of (mugs, chargers, tools), donate/toss the rest.
  5. The Maybe Box: Genuinely unsure items go in a box with today's date. If untouched in 3–6 months, donate unopened.
After we declutter (which I suspect will take me a month or two), we will get to focus on decorating,

Someday I will show you the progress!

Bye!

Recent Depop Gets!

So, I have developed a cheap but debilitating addiction to Depop recently! I've decided to use this approach, even if it's Shein/Romwe, to get specific and curated the things I love. I discovered a newfound love for using white and baby pink. Of course, I knew these colors suited me best, but I truly did not feel too adventurous with anything other than black.

I'll leave the color analysis for another day.

I cannot resist if these pieces were under 10 bucks with shipping included!

Of course, some have things to fix, but they have complete potential. I can totally fix them!

I was hesitant because even if deer are in style, it feels a little wintery. However, the weather was okay to wear long sleeves, and it wasn't summer yet (lol). I can totally see it styled with more layers, too!

These I have yet to receive, but if they fit, I already planned a coord for the San Diego Pride Festival. We’ll see if they fit my butt once they arrive!

This one is more for summer. I wore it with some biker shorts and sandals. It's meant to be a night gown, but IDGAS, lol.

This hoodie was just to backup the one I lost at Chillie's some time ago T_T. I had the matching set, now the shorts can have a mate again!

This Hello Kitty Skirt and Tiger print skort are so cute! However, I think they are quite long for my liking. I like to show off my legs! I will take them to my mom to adjust them soon!

This top was so cute and romantic. I was surprised it wasn’t too lace-monster-ish (?) also it fits many styles and coords at the same time!

That’s it for now! I have a wishlist, but I’m working on it. I wanna be more mindful and actually use my clothes.

Anyway! Time for bed, because these two are judging me!

July Inspo

Let's go over some stuff I have been loving lately!

Bright undereye + blush combo
I just love how it looks in all skin tones. I also think this technique goes super well with gyaru, too! I might try a more intense look for next week's MARINA concert at SD Pride Festival! <3

Baby tee + layered skirt combo
Is there a name for this style? It would be something you see with Tralala coords, as well as more Popteen-like looks. Anyway, I realized I love this combo and that it looks good on me. It's so easy to style up and down, and it's clearly a base for many gyaru looks.

zebra+pink+black combo
Even if it's agejo or more casual, I loooove zebra print this season (and all seasons). I know polka dots were the thing, but do not leave my black-and-white pattern behind.

This combo for amekaji lives in my mind rent-free!
I feel like it's a more summer-friendly look for Amekaji. It's a rare combo, since I've always seen the baggie boyish pants. I've been kind of sporty lately thanks to the World Cup, haha. It would be a fun way to style my jerseys.

2009 Popteen
To me, the epitome of girlyness was this year! I will die on this hill. Popteen was not necessarily a gyaru mag, but my goal is to collect all of them for this year. So far, I have February and March, lol, 10 more to go?

Straight Hair with bangs
My hair cannot make up its mind. Both my parents have curly AF hair, but I have really in between sad hair, lol. So since I cannot take the time and effort to curl it, I have been looking on completely flat iron hair styles. Also any low effort things I can be made into part of my personal routine are welcomed. I need to avoid any burnout triggers.
